Reflecting on the recent MRAC virtual candidate forum, I feel immensely grateful for the chance to share my vision and goals. Speaking twice, first as a candidate for the Assistant Financial Secretary and then as a candidate for member of the Nominating Committee, was both a challenge and a valuable learning experience. The questions raised by my fellow Sorors were not only engaging but also crucial to the discussions we must have as a chapter.
These conversations highlighted the vital role of community involvement and the real challenges that arise when stepping into leadership. Each question was a reminder of my own journey, echoing the feelings of being the underdog in this election. With sincerity and commitment, I aim to foster connections that overcome the barriers some have encountered within our sisterhood.

Clarifying My Commitment
A key theme throughout the forum was the commitment needed for the roles I am pursuing. Several Sorors asked how I would manage the demands of being the Assistant Financial Secretary or a member of the Nominating Committee while also juggling my full-time job. This question resonated with me, encapsulating the essence of my candidacy: to serve while maintaining balance.
Effective time management and prioritization are critical skills in striking this balance. I am prepared to dedicate my energy and enthusiasm to these roles. I want my fellow Sorors to know that despite the possibility of a busy schedule, my commitment to our chapter and its financial health is unshakeable.
Navigating Cliques
One of the most poignant discussions during the forum revolved around addressing cliques within our chapter. Several Sorors shared their experiences, and I felt a deep sense of shared vulnerability. My heartfelt response echoed my own encounters with social dynamics that can feel exclusive or daunting.
It’s essential to recognize that while cliques may form, they do not define our sisterhood. We have a common goal: to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued. My strategy involves actively building relationships that break down barriers and foster unity within our chapter.
I am committed to engaging in initiatives that cross committee collaboration, ensuring every Soror feels they have a place and a voice.
Embracing the Underdog Role
Feeling like an underdog breeds resilience and empathy, two qualities I hold dear. This feeling fuels my passion for leadership, as I know those who navigate uncertainty often build strong communities. Initially, I felt like an outsider, but each interaction during the candidate forum sparked a significant sense of hope.
By openly discussing my experiences, I hope to resonate with other Sorors who might also feel out of place. The feedback I received showed a shared desire for greater interconnectedness. Together, we can break down the walls that may seem to separate us.
Closing Thoughts
The MRAC virtual candidate forum was a powerful reminder of the unique strengths within our chapter. By engaging in honest dialogues about commitment, evolving social dynamics, and overcoming feelings of being the underdog, we can set the stage for collective success.
Every Soror is encouraged to join me on this journey. Let’s break down barriers, engage authentically, and cultivate a community where every voice is valued. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities and strengthen the connections that bind us all.
I invite your thoughts and insights. How do you envision our chapter growing? What challenges are you excited to tackle? Let’s keep this vital conversation going and shape our sisterhood together.
